The Benefits of a Ceiling Fan (More Than Just Cool Air)

Updated: Feb 26, 2019

It likely comes as no surprise that we have installed a ceiling fan or two over the years. The bulk of our clients call us to install a ceiling fan during the summer months when temperatures spike, but did you know ceiling fans are a valuable household tool all year round?

The most commonly known function of a ceiling fan is to circulate the air inside a room - generally used to create a cooling or wind-chill effect, ceiling fans used during warmers months can help your room feel six to eight degrees cooler with minimal energy consumption.

However, many people are unaware that ceiling fans can be used to circulate warm air during the winter months too. By running the blades clockwise at a low speed, ceiling fans push warm air down from the ceiling without creating a draft. Doing this can reduce your cold-month energy consumption by up to 15%, and eliminate the need for additional space heaters or electric heating pads.

If safety is a concern, ceiling fans are definitely for you - Compared to a pedestal or table fan, ceiling fans offer a safer alternative for homes with small children or pets as their location keeps them out of reach of small hands and wagging tails.

Have a ceiling fan you need help installing? Give us a call to set up a time for us to come by. We promise, regardless of the season, your in home comfort and wallet will thank you!
